Here is a good exercise which will really sharpen your brain.

If
1 – 3 + 4 = 100

4 – 6 + 9 = 999

2 – 6 + 7 = 879

Then;

3 -3 +6 = ?

Answer:

There are Two ways in which you can solve this, answer will remain the same in both methods

Method 1 (Short approach):

i) 1 – 3 + 4 = 100,

If we solve it we get;

1 – 3 + 4 = -2+4 = 2

So 2 = 100.

ii) 4 – 6 + 9 = 999

we get 7 = 999

iii) 2 – 6 + 7 = 879

We get 3 = 879

Now we need to solve the last equation for which we need the answer;

So 3 -3 +6 = 6

we need to find the value of 6 which from above (i) + (ii) – (iii);

So 100 + 999 – 879 = 220

Method 2:

Let us name the equations as for better understanding

1-3+4=100 — (i)

4-6+9=999 — (ii)

2-6+7=879 — (iii)

3-3+6=? — (iv)

Now, subtracting each digit of eqn 3 from eqn 2..

2-0+2=120 — (v)

Similarly, subtracting L.h.s of eqn 1 from 4…

2 – 0 + 2 = r.h.s of eqn 5

Hence, 3 – 3 + 6 = 220
